VTL Winner is a Vertex FX client-side indicator that represents the oscillator used within its calculations an average price for a certain period and for determining the turning points price. VTL Winner is a bounded oscillator with range of 0 to 100. The stronger the indicator value, the stronger is the strength of the trend.
The indicator consists of two components, the Bullish component is Green and the Bearish component is Red. When the chart is present red bars it is a signal of a downward trend. And when there are green bars it is a uptrend signal.
Method of calculation of the indicator:
1. We calculate the weighted price, which is the sum of High, Low and Close multiplied by two. This value is divided by four to derived the Weighted price.
2. We calculate the Linear Weighted Moving Average (LWMA) of the weighted price calculated in the previous step. The LWMA is calculated over the recent AVERAGE bars. 3. Then we calculate the Highest High and the Lowest Low of the LWMA price (calculated in the previous step) is identified over the recent PERIOD bars.
4. After that, we calculate the relative strength – whereby the lowest low is subtracted from the LWMA value. This difference is first divided by the difference of the Highest High of the LWMA and the Lowest Low of the LWMA, and then multiplied by 100 to normalize it over a scale of 0 to 100.
5. In the fifth step, the Exponential Moving Average (EMA) is calculated of this relative strength.
6. At the end, once again the Exponential Moving Average (EMA) is calculate of the EMA calculated in the fifth step. These values provide us with the Bullish and Bearish components of the indicator. If the EMA calculated in fifth step is greater than the EMA calculated in the sixth step, the indicator is Bullish, whereas if it is lesser then the indicator is Bearish.
Trading using Winner indicator:
-Place Buy trade when the indicator histogram has turned Green from Red;
-Place Sell trade when the indicator histogram has turned Red from Green.
As a rule, a trend reversal occurs when an indicator of the achievements of the maximum levels 0 and 100. At such moments, the probability of price movement in the opposite direction is very high.
Parameters of the indicator:
Period (default = 10)- the number of bars in the calculation of the indicator;
Average (default = 5) – the value of averaging prices of the financial instrument.
For intra-day trade it is recommend to use the indicator with the following parameters
Period = 2;
Average = 4.
