This indicator is not used directly for trading but is rather used as in input for other indicators. For example, if the current value of Cycle Period indicator is 12, then this value can be used to calculate 12-period RSI.

Cycle Period is an innovative VertexFX VTL Indicator that detects and determines the duration of cycles for the market.
This indicator is not used directly for trading but is rather used as in input for other indicators. For example, if the current value of Cycle Period indicator is 12, then this value can be used to calculate 12-period RSI.
The advantage of using Verdo Cycle Period indicator is it adapts naturally to market conditions, and hence instead of using fixed period in calculations like RSI, moving averages etc, the indicator changes the period as the market changes. We first smooth the source price series using the smoothing constant ALPHA. Then we detect the cyclic component (length of cycles) using Hilbert Transform.
Usage
- Download the attachment.
- Copy it to your company VertexFX Local VTL Files folder i.e. C:Program FilesCompany Namevtl10Local VTL Scripts
- Restart your Client Terminal or Right Click on “Local VTL Scripts” Tree Node to find the script
